What is WHM?

Overview

WHM (Web Host Manager) grants administrative access to the backend of cPanel. Yes, one can go even “deeper” than cPanel with their server access. In fact, your account’s WHM is like the manager of all the cPanel administrators that fall under its umbrella. This is of particular interest to Administrators, though anyone with a hosting account should be familiar with the functionality of WHM. To make it short, WHM is the graphical user interface tool where you can manage your server. Aside from the traditional command line interface option where you can connect to your server, WHM is the web portal version of it.

What can you do inside WHM?

  • if applicable to your hosting account, you can create, delete, suspend cPanel accounts inside the server.
  • Monitor the server; from running processes, disk usage, memory usage and so on.
  • Manage Server Security
  • Backup and Restore File
  • Tweak server settings; from PHP extensions, to MySQL installations, you can perform any server related settings adjustments.
